Structure and routine are important for people living with schizophrenia. Participation in a day programme can play an important role in psychosocial rehabilitation. Some programmes may have more of a social focus, whereas others are more vocationally oriented.

The Welcome Club
The Welcome Club in the grounds of Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital, serves as a social, knowledge and skills sharing centre for people with psychiatric illnesses. The club is an initiative of the Comcare Trust
Fountain House
Fountain House provides a work-ordered day programme for adults with psychosocial disabilities. Participants receive skills training through participating in various work units, and benefit from psychoeducation and peer support. The two centres, in Observatory and Mitchells Plain, are run by Cape Mental Health.
