The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) is a national organisation that delivers vital, compassionate mental health care in times of crisis and emotional need.  Our speakers will discuss how SADAG serves as a frontline safety net for those in crisis and how communities can access safe spaces for long-term emotional support. This includes sharing information about a specialised support group for families living with schizophrenia.

Anita McKenzie
As SADAG’s Support Group Leader Coordinator, Anita oversees a national network of over 200 support groups. Drawing on her background as a life coach and lay counsellor, she is dedicated to empowering individuals to build resilient, safe community spaces. She will explain the fundamentals of support groups, as well as how to start a new group or join an existing group.

Tracy Feinstein
Tracy is SADAG’s Call Centre Manager, directing a vital network of 30 toll-free helplines that respond to over 2,700 calls daily. With over eight years of service, she leads more than 200 volunteer counsellors in delivering multi-channel crisis support 365 days a year, including South Africa’s only suicide crisis line. She will share firsthand insights into how these helplines function as a lifeline for those in urgent emotional need.
